Stimulus Based Conversation

There are three types of stimulus based conversation: CHOICE / EVENT / POSTER



CHOICE


Students will be given a few different choices to choose from. They are to select one or two according to the questions asked.


They will be asked to select one and explain why.


Students should follow the 4E


Express and tell the teachers your choice


Explain why you choose that and provide at least three reasons.


Examples provide some personal examples, any articles from the news or recounts you heard from your friends.


End

End your conversation with phrases like; in a nutshell / in a main / all in all





Event


Students will be shown a poster/flyer. Teachers are likely to question if students would like to participate in the event shown.



In flyer/poster, it is crucial that students use the information provided in their answering.


Let's look at the 4E:


Express and tell the teachers your choice


Explain your choice, using the information provided.

Eg.


Venue: is it a stone's throw away/ is it accessible/ is it inconvenient or inaccessible

Date: are you available at that date and time

Cost: does it cost an arm and a leg / is there any complimentary items/meals/transportation

Purpose: are you keen in the event / is the event educational or important /do you support the cause

Poster


Students will be shown a poster. This poster can be about the promotion of an item/business/location. It can also be about a specific topic like; recycling, smoking, drink driving, healthcare and etc.





In poster, it is crucial that students show their general knowledge and maturity in their conversation.

Express what you know about the topic


Explain how you feel about it


Examples provide some personal examples, any articles from the news or recounts you heard from your friends.
